35th AGM & CNY Lunch @ Ping's Restaurant
This year’s AGM we have 77 friends and family joining us and at the same time celebrate Chinese New Year (with the tradition of Yusheng Lou Hei). Friends from the Singapore Embassy also joined us in this occasion to get to know more Singaporeans working in Thailand. A lot of fun and laughter along the way while the President presented the 2019 report of SCOT , and the upcoming 2020 events. Let’s all hope for a prosperous 2020 huat ah!
Kodak Moments Of Our Social Activities
We organise at least 2 Makan events yearly. The 1st being our AGM in February combining with CNY plus celebrating our Nation's Birthday in August. SG food is a Must which we 'miss' dearly in the country where we earn our keep. We too, organise weekend upcountry trips visiting places of interest absorbing the local culture & food.
This year our SCOT 54th NDP Celebration has been very successful, with a good turnout of 95 pax. We also had the honor of having our Ambassador His Excellency Mr Kevin Cheok gracing the event, as well staff from the Singapore Embassy. Raffle draw donations are also collected from the guests to be given as donation for our charity trips in North Thailand. Special thanks to our sponsors from Ascott, UFC, Tiger, SISB, EPG, and not forgetting Ping’s Restaurant!

With overwhelming support from the SCOT members and guests, we had about 86 persons (including children and toddlers) coming to this NDP Makan 2018 for our 53rd National Day celebration. Guests were treated to a buffet of Singaporean food (Laksa, Hae Mee, Mee Siam, Chicken Rice, Popiah, Curry puffs etc) and the food won praises from many. Of course, we also had our fair share of fun with games (Q&A) and ‘Whose Line is it Anyway’. The day ended with our Raffle Draw with our top prize sponsored by SISB being a return SQ Air ticket. Thank you to all attendees and sponsors and look forward to seeing you next year !
Our 1st social event of 2018, being 33rd AGM n CNY get together Luncheon at Ping's Pathumwan Princess Restaurant, had about close to 50 attendees. SG food (Laksa, Chicken Rice, Hokkien Mee, Curry Puff, etc) served for our attendees to fill up their stomachs while listening to the President presenting 2017 activities and cash balances. We ended off with a lou hei Yusheng and all went back with new found friends and filled stomachs! Thank you especially to UFC for sponsoring our table gifts, and also to our new EXCO committee 2018 who will be committed to serve the members once again!
It's our combined SCOT Bowling tournament together with STCC members and over 30 came together for a fun day of activities. Not to forget we also celebrate Mid Autumn festival with some mooncakes. Buffet food were also provided to ease the hunger during the course of the game. Thank you our sponsors (UFC/ PCS/ EML/ Lanna/ Hotel Royal as well for this fun filled tournament !
Wow close to about 60 guests attended the event of our 52nd National Day Makan. Having fun for nearly 2 hours, we played games, interacted among guests, new friends met old ones, and of course, enjoyed and savored the delicious Singapore makan ( Chicken rice, Mee siam, Curry Puff, Laksa, Hae Mee, eetc) prepared by Ping's Pathumwan Restaurant. Special thanks to our sponsors which included SISB, Nokscoot, Tiger Beer, UFC, Famous Amos, Channel News Asia, Pansy, Ascott and many others for the fabulous prizes won by our guests during raffle draw! Some 20 fellow members & frens came together for a midweek makan. Sumptuous SG Hae Mee, Poh Piah & Cheng Tng were served 😋😋. All were happy with the yummy selection. Should we do this more frequently ?? It was supposed to be a Ladies Lunch .... due to 'protest' 😜 we decided to open to all & the response were good. Till our next Makan ... see u
A turnout of over 60 pax for the event. Over 90 (including 5 toddlers) came together in Red & White to celebrate SG's 51st Birthday with our Guest of Honor - Ambassador Her Excellency Mrs Chua Siew San. The youngest being only 6 months old while the oldest over 70+. It was great get together with yummy SG food & fantastic company as we let our 'hair down'. Watching funny videos, singing as well as playing guessing games. Many thanks to our sponsors - SISB & Nok-SCOOT (return air tickets to SG) plus many prizes & goodies bags from Piyavate Hospital, Bangkok Glass, Channel News Asia, Famous Amos, Tiger Beer, CMI, Aeroflex, OSU, UFC & food vouchers from Ping's Restaurants. It was an foodie event with over 50 members (quite a few new faces too), families & frens. Without a doubt our SG hawker fav were the attraction (Hokkien Mee, Chwee Kueh, Mee Siam, Chicken Rice etc.) & everyone make a bee line for them - our beloved food, hard to find in BKK. After satisfying our hunger .... we had 'Loi Hei' just for fun to end the 1st Lunar Moon. We presented the 2015 Report to members, proposed by Benny Lim & seconded by KS Lim. A successful & great event jointly organized by STCC & SCOT in celebrating SG's Golden Jubilee with a 'BANG' in Bangkok.The event was graced by HE Ambassador Mrs Chua Siew San with our Guest of Honor - Minister of Commerce HE Mrs Apiradi Tantraporn. It was indeed a memorable & wonderful evening with free flow of wine & beer for over 380 fellow Singaporeans & frens. Very Singaporean quiz were played to break the 'ice' with many sporting participants. Thanks to our many sponsors, we had goodies bag for all attendee as well as lucky draw prizes for the lucky few. While we had Fun, we did not forget to help the less fortunate with a raffle draw which raised Baht 98k. This will go towards building a student dorm in Payao, Northern Thailand. Majulah Singapura.
Over 200 Singaporeans & frens (not counting toddlers) came together celebrating our nation's 50th Birthday hosted by the Singapore Embassy with live streaming via Channel News Asia. Old frens met new .. great camaradarie as we watched the live telecast together. We were feasting on SG delights - Laksa, Hokkien Mee, Mee Siam, Chui Kueh, Curry Puff, Nonya Kueh, 100 Plus & free flow of Tiger Beer etc. etc. NDP Goodies bags were given as well as Tong Gardens Nuts & Super Instant Coffee. We ended the evening with cake cutting by HE Ambassador Chua, a very enjoyable evening indeed !! Majulah Singapura
A diplomatic event hosted by the Singapore Embassy in Bangkok for fellow Singaporeans & frens. An evening of great company with fellow countrymen celebrating Singapore's Golden Jubilee. We were served with SG Delights - Hokkien Mee, Bakuteh, Laksa, Rojak etc. etc. Even Ya Kun & BreadTalk came on board for the occassion ... yum.
A wonderful turnout of over 60 with many new faces. Great that frens bring frens to join us at this event for the foodies. We had our Loi Hei Yusheng even though the Lunar New Year was just over . Accounts 2014 were presented after the hunger were satisfied by the yummy SG spread especially ordered ... Mee Siam, Hokkien Mee, Curry Chicken etc. etc. Many thanks for your participation making this yet another successful event.
Wow .. truly a Red & White Birthday Party with over 100 attendee including many young children - our future leaders. The event was graced by H.E. Ambassador Chua. The colourful NDP 2014 Funpacks especially the Red scarf were a Big Draw & we also gave away 'I Luv SG' ECO & Shoe Bags sponsored by Keppel & Dawn Shipping. After all the protocol such as speech & pledge, we made a bee line 'to comfort our tummies' with the wide spread of yummy SG Makan - Hae Mee, Lotong, Hokkien Mee, Chicken Rice, Popiah, Rojak etc. etc .. all the Singaporean Favorites. SG Quiz game were played with many many wrong answers .. alamak !!! Must have been too long away from Home leh .. forgot liao. Bingo & Raffle Draw had raised Baht 41k for SCOT's School Community Projects.
